Graduate Summer Programs

These summer programs are available for free or at a nominal fee in the fields of biostatistics and/or epidemiology:

Boston University School of Public Health Summer Institute for Research Education in Biostatistics (SIBS)

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored Summer Institute in Biostatistics (SIBS) programs, this summer academic and research program, based at the Boston University School of Public Health, targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes both training in the field of biostatistics and work with actual research data. 

 

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Summer Internship in Biostatistics and Epidemiology

Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply for a summer internship.

 

Colorado Summer Institute in Biostatistics (CoSIBS)

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored SIBS programs, this summer academic and research program, based at the University of Colorado School of Public Health, targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics and data science to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes training in the fields of biostatistics and data science, as well as work with actual research data. 

 

Dr. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases RISE Fellowship

Sponsored by the CDC and coordinated through the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI), the program targets current graduate students in a variety of medical or public health related schools or graduate programs. Participants receive a stipend and conduct research with mentors at organizations such as the CDC, KKI, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Iowa Summer Institute in Biostatistics

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored SIBS programs, this summer academic and research program, based at the University of Iowa College of Public Health, targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics and data science to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes both training in the field of biostatistics and work with actual research data. 

National Science Foundation National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics Research Ambassador’s Program

Intended for students at least 18 years of age who have recently completed or are currently completing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Appointments include summer internships with stipends in a variety of fields that make use of statistical methods, including Life Health and Medical Sciences.

 

North Carolina State University Summer Institute in Biostatistics (SIBS)

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored SIBS programs, this summer academic and research program targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes training in the field of biostatistics and data science, as well as work with actual research data. 

University of Michigan Big Data Summer Institute

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored SIBS programs, this summer academic and research program, based at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics and data science to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes both training in the field of biostatistics and data science, as well as work with actual research data. 

 

University of Southern California Los Angeles Biostatistics Education Summer Summer Training Program (LA’s BEST)

As a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored SIBS programs, this summer academic and research program targets undergraduates and beginning graduate students interested in learning about using biostatistics to address public health issues. It provides a stipend for those participating in this six to seven-week program that includes both training in the field of biostatistics and work with actual research data.
